Abstract
건강 보조 식품으로 흔히 사용되는 노니는 항산화 및 항염증 효과가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 항산화 및 항염증의 효과가 있는 노니가 만성 염증성 질환인 치주염에 대한 효과를 조사하고자 하였다. 마우스 상악 제2대구치를 6-0 봉합사로 결찰하여 치주염을 유도하였으며, 10% 노니 주스 (NFJ, 10% NFJ) 와 20% NFJ를 14일 동안 경구투여하였다. 치조골 소실과 치은상피 조직병리를 확인하기 위해 미세단층촬영 (Micro-computed tomography; Micro-CT)과 Masson trichrome 염색을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 20% NFJ군에서 치조골 소실 및 치은 상피 염증이 억제됨을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 NFJ 투여가 치주염을예방하는 데에 효과가 있음을 시사한다.
Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.), commonly used as a health supplement, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. This study aimed to investigate the effect of noni on periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease. Periodontitis was induced in mice by ligating the maxillary second molar teeth with a 6-0 silk suture. After ligation, 10% noni fruit juice (NFJ, 10% NFJ) and 20% NFJ were orally administered to mice for 14 days. Micro-computed tomography and Masson trichrome staining of the maxillary alveolar process were performed to examine alveolar bone loss and gingival epithelial histopathology. Results showed inhibition of alveolar bone loss and gingival epithelial inflammation in the maxillary alveolar bone of the 20% NFJ group This study indicates that NFJ administration can effectively prevent periodontal disease.
